Heat Treating

Heat treating for metals and materials processing

Made to Last

At Linde, we will work with you to produce the most durable metals for today’s demands. The heat treatment of metals requires controlling numerous parameters to reach your specific metal properties. We offer years of experience in the field, a diverse portfolio of heat treating gases, and applications technologies that can improve the quality and appearance of your metals, help you make highly reproducible parts, and give you more control over your process.

We supply the full spectrum of industrial and specialty gases required for any heat treatment method such as argon for brazing, helium for vacuum heat treatment, hydrogen for annealing and sintering, and nitrogen for hardening and atmosphere control. These gases can be obtained through either cylinder and bulk delivery or through our onsite supply.

Annealing

annealing

Annealing is the process of heating steel above the transformation temperature and slowly cooling it to increase the workability of the metal. Nitrogen or hydrogen-based atmospheres are also required to achieve a bright annealed surface finish.

Brazing

Brazing parts in furnace

Furnace brazing is commonly used when large batches of parts are to be processed at one time. We provide a reducing atmosphere to help you produce higher quality joints, with controlled heat temperatures and improved production rates.

Carburizing & Hardening

Carburizing Furnace

Carburizing is a heat treatment method in which steel absorbs carbon while the metal is heated. Our technology provides ideal conditions for better control and repeatability.

Gas Quenching & Inerting

Gas Quenching

Furnace inerting and parts quenching are common heat treating applications. We offer gases in a variety of supply systems to meet your process requirements.

Sintering

Gears Sintering

The sintering process uses compressed metal or ceramic powders to form various shapes. Our atmosphere gases help achieve a consistent performance for your sintering operation.
