Well Fracturing

Well Fracturing (Fracing) for the Oil & Gas Industry

Tapping into unconventional reserves

The ability to grow the breadth of oil and natural gas reservoirs has become central to meeting today’s energy needs. It is especially important in the U.S. to not only access conventional oil and gas reserves, but also to move into unconventional deposits such as coal bed methane, tight sands and shale, that are becoming an increasing percentage of our energy supply mix. To facilitate unlocking of these unconventional deposits, energy companies are turning to Linde.

DryFracTM Waterless Fracturing Technology

Linde now offers oil and gas producers DryFrac™ waterless fracturing technology, a process that completely replaces water in hydraulic fracturing with carbon dioxide (CO2). In water sensitive or pressure depleted formations, a 100% CO2 fracture will flow more readily, enabling the initial production rate and ultimate recovery to be higher than it is with water or foam mixtures. The CO2 reduces formation and water blockage damage, helping you increase production and recovery rates of your oil and gas well.

The DryFrac technology blends the CO2 and sand which is then pumped into the ground by the service company. This technology integrates directly with the service companies’ high pressure pumping equipment, helping you keep the project running smoothly and on schedule. We’ve reduced the mechanical complexity of the system to help you increase operability, reliability and safety.

Safety is our priority. As a non-flammable frac fluid, CO2 is a sustainable alternative to other waterless fracturing fluids such as propane / butane or diesel fuel. Linde has safely provided CO2 pumping services for oil and gas and mining applications since the late 1970s. With over 40 years of experience supplying industrial gases to well sites, and with a leading, nation-wide network of CO2 supply, choose Linde to be your trusted CO2 supplier for oil and gas extraction.
