By arranging the freezer belt in a slowly upward rising spiral, a spiral freezer requiring only 150 sq. ft of floor space can have the freezing–cooling capacity of a tunnel freezer that’s 6 ft wide and up to 100 ft long. This unit is ideal for food processors that need medium to high freezing and cooling capacity where available floor space is limited.
Spiral freezers can be used with either liquid nitrogen or liquid CO2. The direction of rotation and loading/unloading positions can be chosen, based on local conditions.
CRYOLINE® Spiral Freezers come in vertical and horizontal air-flow designs, with self-stacking or conventional driven conveyor belt designs. Within a small space and suitable for a wide range of food products, CRYOLINE® Spiral Freezers are available for small (500 lbs/hr), medium and high to very high production (20,000 lbs/hr) capacities.
Spiral freezers can be used to freeze a wide range of products: red meats, poultry, seafood, fruits and vegetables, bakery products, prepared meals and dairy products. Products can be frozen directly on the belt or on paper, or in trays or boxes. The freezers offer proportional cryogen control, based on box temperature; proportional cryogen exhaust flow; a variable turbulence fan speed; and a variable belt speed.
The benefits of spiral freezers include:
Maximum freezing in minimum space
High freezing capacity
Efficient construction allows for ease of cleaning, maintenance and inspection
