Vacuum Heat Treatment and Quenching

Linde reliably provides various high quality gases such as nitrogen, argon, and helium used for back-filling of vacuum furnaces. Linde provides technical assistance to optimize the type and/or mixture (thermal conductivity and heat capacity) of quench gases in order to achieve performance at minimized cost.

Vacuum furnaces are normally used in the precision heat-treatment processing of components used in demanding aerospace and automotive applications. Vacuum carburizing – using carbon sources such as acetylene – is used to achieve a quality and consistency of carburization that is increasingly becoming the industry standard.

Gas quenching is frequently preferred over oil and aqueous quenching, as it offers:

· Improved safety

· The elimination of process liquid treatment and disposal costs

· The elimination of part-staining and required part-cleaning

· Enhanced process flexibility

Linde can help design an optimal vacuum treatment and quenching process that maximizes your throughput results while minimizing overall operating costs. Contact Us to learn how.
