Hot-dip galvanizing and continuous annealing

Continuous annealing of steel strip is done in hot-dip coating (e.g., galvanizing or aluminizing) and continuous-strip annealing lines. The objectives of such world-class continuous annealing processes include:

· High energy efficiency
· Low operating costs
· Increased productivity
· Superior surface cleanliness
· Temperature uniformity across the strip width

REBOX® DFI technology was developed by Linde and is used to achieve the objectives of hot-dip coating and continuous-strip annealing operations. By adopting REBOX DFI on its hot-dip galvanizing and aluminizing lines, ThyssenKrupp Steel has been able to remove in-line cleaners and increase line capacity by up to 30%. Outokumpu Stainless has improved both its productivity and product quality by using REBOX DFI in its stainless steel continuous annealing and pickling line. All installations have been accomplished without extending the furnace length.

Linde has integrated patented REBOX DFI oxyfuel technology into a compact package that is suitable for retrofitting existing furnaces that lack additional space for a longer furnace.
